The first draft of The Dog-Walking Consortium is officially done!
DONE, do you hear?
Youngest child used the journey at the end of the October holidays to catch up with his reading and gave it the official thumbs up. Of course, I’m very aware how little that means, although it made me feel like I achieved what I set out to do.
Now the job that remains is to turn telling a story into telling a story beautifully. Wittily. Entertainingly. You get the idea. Off to the café to do just that, armed with laptop, highlighters, pens of different colours for colour-coding…
At the same time, I need to do this quickly, as I had an interesting mail from a literary agent last week:
“I’d be happy to take a look at THE DOG-WALKING CONSORTIUM – sounds like fun! Best of luck with the edits.”
Now, let’s make sure it lives up to her expectations!
Over a Latte.
Well done! And fantastic news about the agent – fingers firmly crossed …

Wow, Barbara, this is so exciting!! It’s the most fantastic feeling to get to the end of that all important first draft – AND such a nice note from the agent. More power to your pencil!
