Go on, Cook up a Story…

Right, before I launch into the new stretch of incredibly exciting blog posts about THE NEW THING happening in my writing life, here are a couple of opportunities for those writing for children:

TV daytime shows may normally be something getting in the way of writing, but here’s one with a difference!

ITV’s Lorraine is searching for a new children’s writer, for once putting younger MG chapter books centre stage. So often sidelined by the currently fashionable YA, they are looking for a text below 8000 words.

To put it in the immortal words of Mr Incredible: ‘I’ve still got time…’

The second opportunity is very specific and challenges a whole different set of writing muscles: Picture books. There is a one day submission window only with Maverick Books, cleverly timed to coincide with World Book Day. Look at submission guidelines very carefully and give yourselves a chance. If you don’t submit it’ll never happen!

Good Luck!!!!
