New Opportunities for Children’s Writers

A couple of things I wanted to let you know, particularly if you have something ready to go.Image result for pencil clipart

  1. Sarah Odedina is going to use her new role at Pushkin Children’s to break down the barrier between authors and publishers. One-day submission window only on 20th June, first 20 pages and synopsis for 8+. Check it out below. http://www.thebookseller.com/news/odedina-open-submissions-pushkin-331191

  2. Wells Festival of Literature competitions include a writing for children competition for 10+. Closes June 30, so you have, erm, 12 days to perfect your entry. Details below: http://www.wellsfestivalofliterature.org.uk/competitions.php

  3. Finally, the good ol’ New Writers Awards are  up for grabs again if you live in Scotland. Go on! I’m a four-times-unsuccessful-applicant, but this year I’m not applying – because I’m not eligible anymore (publication! So it’s a good reason). http://www.scottishbooktrust.com/writing/scottish-book-trust-training-awards/new-writers-awards/apply-now

    Power to your pen!
